A Junior Books Type of Week

I have read 6 books this week or rather 4 graphic novels and 2 junior reads.  I have also finished an impromptu craft project and have started a new one as well.

The books that I have read are….

  1. Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

  2. Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman

  3. Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

  4. Heartstopper Volume 5 by Alice Oseman

  5. I Hate Reading: How to Read When You'd Rather Not by Beth Bacon, as told by her Kids, Arthur & Henry

  6. The Book No One Wants to Read by Beth Bacon

These books were all borrowed from the library as well.

The books that I have hauled this week are….

  1. Enola Holmes The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer

  2. The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo

  3. Prequel to Ender's Game Formic Wars Burning Earth by Orson Scott Card

This is the start of a new era for me where I am not going to be borrowing from the library or hauling books for a really long time.  I am going to be focusing on the books that I already have and that I am going to be focusing more on adult and teen fiction and non-fiction versus junior fiction and graphic novels for any age.  I want to make sure that I am choosing quality over quantity and that it is better that I am making an effort to read every day and that in a week it is better to not have read anything then to have read books that are way below my reading level.

This is what I thought of the books I read this week.

Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

This Heartstopper graphic novel is about Nick coming out as bisexual and navigating his sexuality and having a boyfriend while in high school.

Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman

his Heartstopper is about the boys Nick and Charlie having to navigate being gay and having homophobic people around them. They have to band together to know that they are OK and that there are always going to be haters out there and they shouldn't let them get them down. They are in love and that is OK.They also go on a class trip together to Paris where they really find out how in love they are!

Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

This Heartstopper is about Nick and Charlie stilling liking being in a relationship together but Nick notices that Charlie has developed anorexia and he isn't sure what to do about it. Through some help of some friends, Nick gets the courage to confront Charlie, and Charlie does seek medical addition for his eating disorder. This truthfulness helps bring them closer together.

Heartstopper Volume 5 by Alice Oseman

This Heartstopper is about Nick and Charlie nearing the end of their high school careers and trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives and which colleges they want to go to.Together as well as with some other students they are going to tour Kent College to see if this is the one that they want to go to.

I Hate Reading: How to Read When You'd Rather Not by Beth Bacon, as told by her Kids, Arthur & Henry

I thought the book was super cute, it is about eyes on book and butt in chair and needing to read for 20 minutes a day. There are some tips in the middle of the book to try to get you to read but its up to you to determine if they are any good.Reading can be better then doing some other things in life like math home work or washing the car.

The Book No One Wants to Read by Beth Bacon

I thought the book was very interactive with some games like a maze, paper, scissors rock and determining which is dot or line is bigger. You need to turn the book upside down an don its side to make sure that you are reading everything that is in it as well. The book is so interactive I bet you won't even know that you are reading in the end!

It has been an eventful week and I am looking for another one coming up real soon!
