6 Book Week!

I have had a rather successful week reading 6 books.  Well I read 2 books and then listen to 4 of them.

This week was definitely an anomaly, and I will most likely not read this many books in a week again but that is alright.

This week I have read…

  1. Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister

  2. Call Me Maybe by Cara Bastone

  3. Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone

  4. Seatmate by Cara Bastone

  5. Love at first Psych by Cara Bastone

  6. The Sun was Electric Light by Rachel Morto

This is what I thought of each one.

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister

This book was a real winner. It is about a woman named Camilla or Cam who is going back to work after being on maternity leave. Her husband left early leaving a very cryptic note for her. After arriving at work, the police show up to talk to Camilla about Luke (her husband) as he has taken 3 people hostage.Camilla knows nothing about this and feels like this is very out of character for Luke. Niell, who is the hostage negotiator, is unable to catch any suspects or leads with this case, after chaos ensues after 2 hostages die and their identities are still unknown. The book then jumps 7 years into the future, where Camilla still hasn't come to terms with Luke being dead, and Niell can't let this cold case go.Luke ends up dropping off a manuscript on Camilla's front door, but she isn't sure who it was from until she starts to read it. Camilla is a literary agent, and she met Luke when she was publishing his first book but can read between the lines of the manuscript and can work with Niell to bring Luke home. What Luke did was in self-defence, and the manuscript was his famous last words on the subject matter.

Call Me Maybe by Cara Bastone

This book was super cute.Vera needs her website back in working order and has to call customer support to help get it back in order when she gets Cal. Cal goes above and beyond what is expected of a customer service agent when he helps her out with everything when it comes to the website and even stays on the line with her until late every night, trying to make it work. Vera needs the website working first thing Friday morning when she is attending a convention to sell her small business at and her website is very vital for that.Vera's brother has always urged her to meet and to date his friend Fred, but Vera simply just isn't interested in doing so. As it turns out, Cal is Fred or rather Fredrick Calvin, and is the CEO of the company and takes customer service calls on Mondays to find out what is wrong with the platform so he can correct it. Without even knowing it, the 2 end up knowing each other, and they end up meeting for the first time at the end of the convention so they can start their budding romance!

Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone

This book is super cute and is the second book in the Love Lines series.Eliot, who is the brother of Vera from Call Me Maybe, drunk dials this girl on his phone whose name is listed as a bunch of letters, and the last 2 letters are JD, so that is what Eliot calls her.Over the next couple of days, they leave each other voice messages and call each other on the phone. They seem to have a budding relationship, but Eliot doesn't know who JD is, but JD does know who Eliot is.The relationship is Eliot trying to figure out JD's real identity. The two are on the phone, walking outside, a police car goes by with its siren on, and they realize that they can hear the car in real life and on the phone once they bump into each other.JD runs away, but Eliot wants to give her some space. JD or Jessie is the building's superintendent. She has taken over for her father. Her brother Jack needed some money and thought Eliot was going to be away for the weekend, so he decided to rob Eliot, but Eliot didn't end up leaving town. Due to this break, Eliot hasn't been able to sleep, and this is why Jessie didn't want Eliot to know her identity, because Jack couldn't go to jail, especially seeing as their dad is on his insurance and needs to be in the car facility that he is in.Eliot can look past this for Jessie and they can now of a budding relationship in person.

Seatmate by Cara Bastone

This book was super cute. There are about 2 people who are travelling by bus from Boston to New York. The guy is going home, while the girl is going for a work opportunity. She needs to get to this interview with a socialite before her rival does. The guy does everything he can to make sure that she does get there, including phoning in a few favours for her. It is heroic what he does to help her out, a girl he barely knows. This is the start of their budding romance.

Love at first Psych by Cara Bastone

This book is about new begins and coming to terms with what has happened and find the time to move forward.Ruth moves to a small island town to teach. She quickly makes friends and goes to the mainland to party with them. Her friend Colleen ends up getting sick and dies unexpectedly. It takes Ruth a long time to come to terms with this, but she does go and visit her grave and then goes to the river, which she has visited several times before, especially with Colleen, and gets a chance to come to terms with her death and to get back into teaching. It is really about moving forward.

The Sun was Electric Light by Rachel Morto

This book is super cute.We have 2 college students who are paired together to work on a class project to see if love at first sight is a thing.during their time together, they find out that what happened the year before wasn't a bad thing that wasn't meant to happen, and that he liked her, potentially at first sight. They start to have a budding relationship now that they have cleared up what happened the year before and are forced to be together to work on this project!

I have enjoyed what I have listened to and read but I think I am going to give Cara Bastone a break and move onto another author but we will see.

Happy reading everyone!
