This week has been another week filled with lots of excitement, starting off with a lot of audiobooks and then ending with a book and craft fair.
At the craft fair I picked up a 3D printed axolotl which has some articulated parts as well as 3 books. I picked up….
With This Witch by Isla Winter
Pushing Daisy by Isla Winter
The Lost Flame by Danielle M. Hill
The audio books that I listed to were…..
How to Train Your Mind by Chris Bailey
Extreme Weight Loss Hypnosis by George Nathan Jr.
Rapid Weight Loss for Woman by George Nathan Jr.
The Secret to Healing Anxiety by Kelly Vincent
This is what I thought about them…
How to Train Your Mind by Chris Bailey
I thought that the book was really well written and it gave me some insight on meditation.Chris explains that mediation is like building muscle and that you need to do it to gain and maintain that muscle continuously.Chris also states that the act of consistently doing it every day, even if it is for 2 minutes, is better then doing it for 2 hours every day.The thought process is, by mediating every day you are presenting yourself in the moment regularly and you could end up saving up to 9 minutes and then eventually 9 years of your life just by mediating everyday there for you become a much more productive person and who doesn't want to get more out of their day and life right?!
Extreme Weight Loss Hypnosis by George Nathan Jr.
I think that this should be taken off the market. It is sexist and makes you think that your identity is tied into your self-worth.You are more than a number on a scale! It is wonderful to be healthy, but you are more than your health, you are a wonderful human! Please don't ever think that you are just the number on the scale. The audio-book starts with a beginning, and the majority of the audio-book is you listening to affirmations set to Viby music. It speaks to the sexism of it being written and performed by a man.
Rapid Weight Loss for Woman by George Nathan Jr.
This starts with a beginning, and then to Viby music, you have some affirmations. This is written and performed by a man, and I disagree with this 100%.Some of the affirmations are great but one of them was that 'I look forward to eating vegetables because they are low calories'. You should be looking forward to eating vegetables because they are healthy for you, and you should want to eat them.It isn't something that should be out there on the market.
The Secret to Healing Anxiety by Kelly Vincent
This book has 6 chapters where you are learning what anxiety is, as well as the nervous system and how to regulate it, reprogramming your anxious thoughts, eating to heal your body, the power of movement and stillness, as well as getting curious.I really enjoyed listening to it and how you really are what you think, eat, and how you move your body. All these things can work in tandem if you let it, and it can be really well if you let it happen.I enjoyed learning about how exercise can alleviate a lot of pain in your body, and how psychosomatic things like physical and mental pain can be, but you allow yourself to be still, eat better, and to move, you can move your way into being well.
Overall, I am impressed with the amount of books I listened to but they were not that long of audiobooks so it wasn’t that big of a deal I would say. I am happy with my purchases at the book fair as well!
Happy reading everyone and I will see you next week!
