So over all a pretty good week for books in my opinion.
This is what I thought of the books that I read this week.
The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
This book surprised me. It's not about the civil war per-say but more so about what it means to be a solider and how you are consonantly fighting someone else s war. You are being told to go here and to fight with little fight or say in what you are doing. You tend to fall into positions that people set out for you as well.It is really about our protagonist life during the civil war and his experiences more so than anything else.
Definitely Better Now by Ava Robinson
This book is a really cute nonfiction book about Emma who is now 1 year sober and has started a new job at a big company being a social media assistant.she meets a guy who also works for the company whose name is Ben. They end up dating but they take it slow as this is the first person Emma has been with while being sober.Emma's dad is dying due to liver failure as he was an alcoholic as well. He passes but Emma can find peace with it and is having a great time experiencing her new life in society.
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
This book is about a sailor who is experiencing the life and times of being out at sea and is seeing what it is like to be a sailor and meeting the men on the ships who are experiencing the nautical life. His writing is very lyrical.
I am really happy with how my week went and that I am looking forward to getting more books read for next week as well. I am enjoying listening to the classic books and that I am finding more and more of them with the same covers at the bookstore where I volunteer. I doubt that I will ever get 100% of the books that came out in publication with those covers but one can hope that eventually I might come close to them. I should make a list to know which ones I need!
I hope that everyone has a great week reading and will keep me posted with what they are reading!
Happy reading everyone!
